Exploring
the wilderness by river is one of the most exhilarating, rewarding experiences in America,
especially when you have reliable guides to attend to the details while you focus on the
magic of the adventure. A rafting adventure vacation is a wonderful way to get in touch
with nature, your family and in yourself.Every summer, modern explorers abandon cellular phones, fax machines, traffic, and congestion and trust Uniglobe Tour 'N Travel to help them coordinate a western river adventure where they can experience the roar of the rapids, whispers of river birds, and the haunting quiet of Anasazi Indians whose dwellings still hang on the canyon walls. The
powerful Colorado River, meandering Green River and surging Main Salmon River are the
focus of these western river adventures. Each expedition is a unique, professionally
guided trip and includes all transportation to and from the river, technically designed
neoprene rubber non-sinkable boats, fabulous scenery, exhilarating white water rapids, and
gourmet camp meals.Where John Wesley Powell and his brave men struggled to map the remote and rugged river canyons of the West in the late 1860s, rafters now enjoy the bold water and secluded beauty in relative luxury. Sandy beaches are your bedroom along the river's edge. Every guest is provided with a top quality sleeping bag, cot and tent, but most guests prefer to sleep in the open air where they fall asleep counting the stars. This is a dream of a vacation.
While you're laying on your sleeping bag and relaxing after a day of river adventure, the guides have started the fires and donned their aprons. Menus include a chef's selection of meat and fish with Italian, Mexican and cowboy flair, served with crisp salads and fresh vegetables all topped off with wonderful desserts. As an option, you can spend the night at Bar 10 Lodge, which sits on a plateau high above the Colorado River, an hour by plane from Las Vegas. Remote from paved roads, power lines and television, the lodge sits in the middle of a working cattle ranch near Whitmore Canyon where mule trains once carried supplies to the river. A chuck wagon lunch greets guests who get an opportunity to visit before an afternoon of ranch activities, including horseback riding, mini-rodeo, sightseeing, hiking or just relaxing. Horseshoes and skeet shooting are also popular pastimes at the lodge. At dusk, guests gather in the lodge to enjoy plenty of delicious cowboy grub served family-style, followed by folk songs, clog dancing, sing-a-longs, trick-roping and tall tales. You'll retire to your choice of a lodge room or outdoor covered wagon. The wagon will give you a real feel for the wild west, with concessions to modern-day comfort. |
