In the Mediterranean Dikili One of the greatest cities in Hellenic history is near this Turkish port.  Ancient Pergamum was renowned for its dazzling cultural activity including of of the world's richest libraries.  Climb up to the ruins of the huge amphitheatre and visit the remains of the Asclepian where the Greek physician Galen healed his patients.  

Kusadasi  It's hard to resist the show of stalls piled high with Turkish carpets, silver jewelry and leather goods.  but don't miss the main act: the restored town of Ephesus.  Although situated inland today, Ephesus was once a bustling port and major cultural center.  Walk down marbled lanes past the exquisite facade of the Library of Celsius.  Visit the house where Mary lived her final days.

Rhodes  Looking more like a state set from a movie, this Crusader's town is festooned with columns, balustrades and an array of palaces and guildhouses from a succession of long-ago invaders.  Walk up wide, cobbled streets to the massive medieval Palace of the Grand Master built by the Knights of St. John.  Or take the scenic route to the beautiful acropolis at Lindos, past white sandy beaches and valleys full of fig and olive trees.
